It might be possible to do the dewarping on the fly on the Pi; it’s certainly worth checking to see how long it takes per image on there.
To do the same processing he did on his image, you’d just install ImageMagick, download his image, and use the same command line he did:
convert test.jpg -filter Cubic -distort DePolar '555 295 1168,1087…[Read more]

Yeah, my thought is, would be nice to take all the raw pics and do a batch process with ImageMagick. Then I can just load the images into a program that will make them into a video. Would be nice again if this was done on the fly with the pi, though that would be unnecessary. I’d take the panoramas and put them all on top of each other as one…[Read more]
Steve – how would I run that script for this image?
Looks like that earlier link didn’t post as I intended, Imgur makes a slideshow… kind of cool but also dumb if you want to view the page (using an embedded link so it doesn’t happen again).

This is mostly of the Portland Mini MakerFaire. Amazing that it’s “mini”, I can’t imagine what the largest ones are like. An amazing experience…

Yeah, might be simpler than figuring out what’s up with SimpleCV, but then, there is the matter, as you point out, of splitting the video into images and reconstructing the video from the output images, which is possibly not super-easy. There’s also the matter of determining those DePolar parameters; the dewarp script allows you to do that…[Read more]

Steve – check this out, this guy did the exact same thing, and he simply used ImageMagick to convert the image… seems a lot easier than that python script that Kathryn Scott used:
Oddly, his image quality is far better… have no idea what he might have done differently…

Posted this on reddit a week ago, it’s got about 20,000 hits over the 3-day period, not bad. A map of all the native peoples of North America, started as an open project.
… Reminds me, we need to set up our 2nd maptime. It’s already been over a month.

There is an area in Ames that is currently a parking lot that I’d like to help make into a common area. Unfortunately, despite the huge benefits, people are afraid of losing parking. I want to demonstrate clearly what the situation with parking is in the area. My idea is to set up a few cameras on bicycles that will sit and record a timelapse…[Read more]

The website is back up, and once and for all. I got it up before, but it got messed up with sloppy work that was done editing the theme. I ended up rebuilding it from scratch. Sorry the topics from before are gone. I have set up automatic backups every day. I also figured out how to have a dev site that can be played with so that I can just find…[Read more]
